Helping both published and unpublished writers on their journey toward a successful business
For writers with a dream for more
Does the following sound like you?
- You want to do more than just publish a book
- You want to earn a living from writing
- You are ready to pursue the best you can for your writing
- You don’t want to be just another self-published author who throws their hat into the mix and gets lost in a sea of options

- You don’t want to be just another self-published author who throws their hat into the mix and gets lost in a sea of options
If you’re serious about your writing, have a vision for the future, and are ready to put in the right work, you’re in the right place.
What authors are lacking today
Brace yourself. Before we even talk about websites and graphic design, I’m about to hit you with some hard truths.
Self-publishing has created a sea of mediocre (and some down-right appalling) books
Look, self-publishing is a fabulous thing. It’s created amazing opportunities for writers. But it’s also made publishing
a book too easy.
It’s too easy now to write a manuscript, have it “edited” (ahem, proof-read for spelling errors only), mock up a cover in
Canva and whack a book on Amazon.
The result has been that in amongst the good quality books – the ones by writers who have actually spent time developing their craft, and had the respect for readers to produce something polished and worth reading – are thousands of books with eye-watering errors, inconsistent characters and unsatisfying stories.
I have respect for my readers and want to produce something worthy of their time
Many writers are not willing to put in the work to produce a quality book.
Writing is a craft and skill that needs to be learnt and honed
to produce a good book. Particularly for fiction, there are techniques that are specific to writing that do not come from everyday writing.
If you want to build a bridge, you need to learn the principles of
engineering and how to apply them. This takes time, formal education, training, and practice.
The same logic applies to writing.
Do you have the drive to produce a quality book?
People do judge a book by its cover
But I’m going to extend past covers and include in this statement anything visually related to you and your books:
- Your photos
- Your social media images
- Your website
What image are you presenting to the world out there about you and your book?

Who am I?
Helen Wakefield,
Online Business Strategist
While digital marketing is my main focus, I’m no stranger to books and editing. I’m a trained fiction editor and have helped several writers through editing and direction. I’m a big fan of Christian romance fiction.
I’ve even started writing a series of romance stories. I love writing, but I painfully put writing and editing aside for one main reason:
I’m better at digital marketing.
I wanted to be excellent at one thing, and knew that in order to do that I had to choose between writing/editing and working with websites and digital presentation.
I’ve been working with websites and the IT industry for more than 20 years, so it was really a no-brainer decision.
But my experience makes me unique. I know the author life, the author space, and the author struggles. I work closely with my sister, who has 100% chosen to follow and carry out the author dream. I’m associated with several writing/editing organisations and assist with branding and image, as well as helping out with technical website and SEO issues.
As an editor I was passionate about working with writers who were serious about producing a polished, well-crafted story. And as a digital marketer, I will always still encourage that route.
The first step is always to produce a quality story. Everything else we do with you will build on that.
I can even recommend editors, organisations and groups that can help you with your story.
